The Neighbor Next Door

The new neighbor. You see them taking out the trash, hear their music through the wall, catch glimpses through windows that are a little too close. Neighbor romances build slowly because the proximity is constant but casual. A borrowed ingredient becomes a dinner invitation. A noise complaint becomes a conversation. A shared hallway becomes the most charged twelve feet in your building. You can't avoid each other. Eventually, you stop trying.
